Hard to believe we are leaving in almost exactly a month. Still so much to do and I have migrated into a mode of mild planning panic, but the flights are (mostly) booked so everything else will just need to fall into place.
For those of you not totally up to speed on what we are doing, here’s the background. We are taking a family sabbatical! Steve is lucky to have a sabbatical through his job every 7 years. Last sabbatical we moved to the beautiful San Carlos in California for a little over a year which was amazing, but Steve worked like crazy with his lab back at Waterloo, Fiona founded a start-up (Skylight) and we had baby!

While our last sabbatical was an excellent experience, this time we’ve decided to go farther afield and explore the world. It’s the last opportunity for us to do a big trip together before the older kids have to start thinking about University. We are pulling all of the three kids out of school and figure the education they’ll get on this trip will be greater than what they would get in the classroom, and we will not be homeschooling.
So, where are we going? Our plan is to start in BC with some skiing at Silverstar and then head out at the end of February and visit 11 countries. Plans may need to change as we go along, but as of now, our destinations look like this

I hope to blog as we go, so if you want to follow along, subscribe to this blog and you’ll get a notification every time I post.
Wish us luck!!
